Tendlite for Pain full Review
The Tendlite is a compact, powerful LED device that targets a 1 inch beam of intense red LED light to the area of the body requiring treatment. This form of light therapy is a simple but very well researched concept.
The light stimulates a natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory response from the body. The light also increases nitric oxide in the blood, this widens and relaxes the blood vessels and increases circulation. The combination leads to the rapid pain relief felt by users of this type of therapy. See our complete guide to Red Light Therapy here >>
Who is Using Tendlite.
This type of targeted light therapy is used by leading physical therapists, doctors, and trainers on professional athletes. Special forces are often issued this type of device for pain management in the field of combat. Tendlite is often a preferred option due to its size and extreme portability.
Clinicians often find this type of therapy one of their most rewarding treatments. The results can sometimes be visible, and are often immediate The effects of it can provide great improvement in the quality of patient life.
Interestingly it has also been used by chromotherapists. Applying the light directly to acupuncture points, rather that using the more traditional needle techniques.
So Does it work?
Red light therapy has been very well studied as a pain management, and wound healing tool. There are lots published scientific studies indicating the effectiveness of this type of treatment.
The question is does the Tendlite work? Well that’s really a hard question to answer. It certainly does work, but obviously not in all cases and all conditions. But the overwhelming majority of owners are happy with the treatment outcome of the device.
The important thing before buying is to know what it designed to do.
Tendlite is a red light only device. It does not warm the tissues as infrared infrared devices do. There may just be some non-penetrating residual heat from the LED. It’s light penetrates the skin and tissues to a slightly shallower depth than infrared does. So treats problems in a parallel, but slightly different way than infrared. Infrared heats tissue from the inside to out. Red light does not.
There are other products available on the market that combine both red and infrared light. We have reviewed several on the site. Most best of them is the LightStim for Pain which has a full review here >>
Many of the negative user experiences were simply because the buyer had expectations of heat treatment from the Tendlite. Unfortunately they had bought the wrong device!!
We have used Tendlite to effectively treat plantar fasciitis and tendonitis in our family. And I have personally had great relief from arthritis in my hands and wrist after using it.
What users are saying about the Tendlite
We have included some owner’s feedback to help to build a picture of the overall product experience. The feedback we have read is pretty well all positive. The ones we have selected have not been cherry picked. But is genuinely difficult to find meaningful negative owner feedback for this type of medical grade product, because many people misunderstand what the device can do. You can find the more complete owners feedback here >>
“To say I’m a skeptic is putting it mildly, ……….… I fully expected to try this thing for a few days, feel no relief, and then send it back and posting scathing review exposing this snake oil…..What’s this? It feels better, after just 2 minutes? No way, it must be a placebo effect. I just want to work. Well three days later, without using anything else, there’s still no pain”. “This little device has changed my life! I have suffered horribly the last 8 months with crippling tendinitis in both arms and hands every early morning waking up with pain that would sometimes bring me to tears, no medication would ever relieve my pain until now! I cannot believe this little device works after only 3 days of use with 2 minute in interval’s on each elbow’s, wrists and knuckles my pain is 90 percent gone and I can sleep now!! ……..!” Verified User March 15, 2017
“While the Tendiite did seem to help my arthritis, it didn’t operate for more than 2 months. After this time it wouldn’t turn on and had to be clicked several times to activate. This is after a full charge of the battery. I tried everything suggested by representative, and still doesn’t work properly. I am returning it and hope for a refund. $195.00 is too much for only 2 months of relief”. Verified User June 27, 2016
“Not what I expected. This device does not deliver any heat to the affected painful area Their technology supposedly works by delivering red light energy via a 660mm wavelength. Although this sounds good it does not relieve my pain. Very disappointed with this purchase”. Verified User January 25, 2017
What can it be used to treat
Really any condition characterised by pain and inflammation can be treated by the Tendlite. It is widely used for:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles heel
- Muscle tears
- Ligament damage
How to Treat
Directions for Use
1: Hold the device over the painful area at a distance of around 1 inch away from the skin, depending on the depth of treatment desired. The red light will penetrate up to 1 inch into your tissue or joint, reaching your tendons, cartilage and discs etc.
2: Keep the unit over that spot for between 1 minute and 3 minutes depending on the severity of pain.
3: Larger joints will be need the entire joint area treated by dividing it in sections. It is best to treat one section at the time. Hold the Tendlite in position for 1 to 3 minutes. Hold the light at different angles around the painful or injured area. It normally takes around 24 hours for healing process to begin.
For really chronic pain treat 2 to 3 times daily for at least 3 weeks.
The device is pre-programmed with a 1 minute timer, this starts as soon as you turn the device on. The device will shut down automatically after this.
Treat injured area twice or three times daily for up to three weeks. The treatment time can be increased to 3 minute sessions depending on pain severity.
Whats the Guarantee?
We found this is interesting because basically Lumina are now offering a kind of “test run” with the Tendlite.
They are giving a 60 day money back guarantee on their product. This gives the buyer a chance to verify that the device is suitable for the type of pain control and pain management they are looking for.
For soft tissue, tendon treatments and sprains, 60 days gives ample time for treatment. The rest of the warranty is a lifetime guarantee on the LED light source. And a disappointing one year on the rest of the device, We can only assume that such a short guarantee for such a simple device is due to the re-chargeable battery it uses for power.
This is the acknowledged leader in it’s field. For a simple and efficient way to home treat injuries, or for pain management, this device works. It is not a cheap option, but it does offer a well proven, non invasive alternative to conventional drugs and medicines.
With all light therapy products there are no diminishing returns. Light therapy will keep giving the same level of treatment and pain relief no matter how often it is used.
Being so portable is makes it an attractive option too, as it should be able to fit fit seamlessly into the owners schedule and lifestyle.
That Tendlite is used by many sports and health care professionals, we think is a meaningful testament to its effectiveness. In fact the physiotherapist at our local soccer club uses it for both pre and post game treatments.
Of course the Tendliite does not heal the root cause of the pain. It diminishes it, in some cases eliminates it by the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of red light.
The science behind the device is compelling, as are the results. It’s not a miracle cure, but as a pain management tool, it has an excellent record of success. It will help a variety of conditions, but obviously not all.
It aids and speeds up the healing process of various soft tissue, tendon and sprain injuries. For arthritis sufferers it can also be a particularly effective tool too. In my case it has helped for sure.
